McGruff Hoops It Up With D.A.R.E.

McGruff the Crime Dog was out and about in Fredonia, NY, recently to support his basketball team of law enforcement agents as they played a grueling game against teachers at Fredonia Central School. At the fifth annual D.A.R.E. Basketball Game, students and residents packed the bleachers to watch their teachers take on the law in a series that was stalemated at 2 - 2 from the previous years. But despite the avid support of their mascot, McGruff, on the sidelines, the local police in Fredonia could not hold off the school's teachers as they were handed a 79 - 67 defeat.

In an article from the Observer, Officer Robert Tracy of the Fredonia Police Department was quoted as saying, "the event is more or less done not so much as a fundraiser but for a community event.  It's an opportunity for our teachers, our police, and our community to come together to sponsor the D.A.R.E. program."

This year, the glory goes to the teachers.  But better luck next time, law enforcement.
