Embracing Change
Change is all around us. If it isn’t the rapidly evolving technology that constantly brings us new ways to communicate and be informed and entertained, then it is popular culture that changes so rapidly in so many ways that it leaves some of us bewildered. It is an immutable law that change is constant, and, if we embrace it and take advantage of it, we will be the better for it.
Hip-Hop as an Anti-Crime Medium
In cities across the country, teen violence is spiking. But in Chicago, one innovative nonprofit is using hip-hop and NCPC’s Community Works curriculum to turn the tide.
Crime Heading Down, According to FBI Report
The FBI’s 2007 Crime in the United States Report has some welcome surprises: Crime is down across the country and murders and other violent crimes are down sharply in the nation’s biggest cities. Only in the South is crime on the rise.
Repairing Your Home, Sweet Home, After a Natural Disaster
Unscrupulous contractors often have dollar signs in their eyes, not legitimate business, when they approach homeowners in need of home repairs after a natural disaster.
Early Family/Parent Training Prevents Crime
Early Family/Parent Training programs may take many different shapes and forms, but they’re all good for the children. Children of participating parents have fewer behavior problems, less delinquency as juveniles, and less criminal involvement as adults.
Deep in the Heart of Texas!
Sergeant Alberto Salinas and Officer Hector Rodriguez of the Laredo, TX, Police Department recently told us that McGruff has appeared during Law Enforcement Week, health fairs, school graduations, and other community events. However, it is, by far, the McGruff Show, featured twice daily during Red Ribbon Week, that has won the hearts of local residents! Sergeant Salinas, Officer Rodriguez and colleagues, NCPC thanks you for promoting McGruff and his “Take A Bite Out Of Crime®” message in your crime prevention work!
