The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) has published Resilient Girls – Factors That Protect Against Delinquency. Part of the OJJDP Girls Study Group series, this bulletin draws on data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. It describes how four factors (the presence of a caring adult, school connectedness, school success, and religiosity) help keep girls from becoming delinquent. Read the bulletin (PDF). The Girls Study Group was created to provide a comprehensive research foundation for understanding and responding to girls’ involvement in delinquency.

The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute has announced its 2009 certificate programs. The programs focus on advancing cross-systems activities to enhance outcomes for youth involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. Financial support is available to help subsidize the cost of travel, lodging, and tuition. The programs are designed for public agency leaders and senior level management at the tribal, state, and local levels. The Certificate Program for Individuals will take place from June 12, 2009 to June 18, 2009; the application deadline is March 2. The Certificate Program for Teams/Breakthrough Series Collaborative will take place from July 24, 2009 to July 29, 2009; the application deadline is March 23. The downloadable curriculum of the Office for Victims of Crime’s Sexual Assault Advocate/Counselor Training (SAACT) teaches advocates how to provide effective crisis intervention services to victims and survivors of sexual assault. SAACT is designed primarily for new advocates or counselors who are volunteers or staff at rape crisis centers and for seasoned veterans who may need a refresher course.

OJJDP has published Juvenile Residential Facility Census, 2004: Selected Findings. This bulletin, available as a PDF, provides data on facilities in which juvenile offenders are held, such as their size, structure, type, ownership, security arrangements, and the range of services they provide youth in their care. In 2004, this biannual census focused on educational and physical health services. Prepared by the National Center for Juvenile Justice, this bulletin is part of OJJDP's National Report series.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance has released Reentry Partnerships: A Guide for States & Faith-Based and Community Organizations. This publication provides recommendations on how state government officials and community-based service providers can help individuals released from prisons and jails each year to successfully rejoin their communities and families.
