Celebrate Safe Communities Initiative Aims For A Record!
There’s still time to plan your Celebrate Safe Communities event. But the CSC kick-off is only a month away.

Sign your community up for Celebrate Safe Communities! It’s FREE, it’s easy, and the CSC site provides FREE information for you and your local law enforcement department. After a very successful first year, long-time partners in crime prevention the National Sheriffs’ Association, the National Crime Prevention Council, and the Bureau of Justice Assistance at the U.S. Department of Justice are teaming up again on Celebrate Safe Communities (CSC), an exciting initiative designed to help local law enforcement agencies and their community partners kick off celebrations of Crime Prevention Month in October!
NCPC President and CEO Alfonso E. Lenhardt said, “Celebrate Safe Communities spotlights Crime Prevention Month. In October, communities across America focus on what works to ‘Take A Bite Out Of Crime®.’ Together, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, National Sheriffs’ Association, and the National Crime Prevention Council encourage citizens to do their part to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe from crime while creating stronger partnerships with their local law enforcement officials. Last year’s participation in the Celebrate Safe Communities initiative is a testament to the work that law enforcement and community groups have done to prevent crime in their communities.”
Thanks to the involvement of many crime prevention practitioners, there were CSC events last year in 153 communities in 36 states and Washington, DC. The goal for this year is to have events in all 50 states in more than 200 communities, and CSC will again need the support of crime prevention practitioners throughout the country.
CSC is designed to spotlight communities’ crime prevention efforts, enhance public awareness of vital crime prevention and safety messages, and recruit year-round support for ongoing prevention activities that help keep neighborhoods safe from crime. This initiative will help local communities organize safety-focused events. Local CSC activities held in October to coincide with Crime Prevention Month will help Americans of all ages recognize that a safer community is no accident and that crime prevention is everyone’s business every day of the year.
Register by September 15 for CSC and receive an incentives package that will include promotional materials, brochures, and giveaways. For more information on CSC visit www.celebratesafecommunities.org or contact Jeff Broderson at 202-261-4136 or jbroderson@ncpc.org.
