A Message From Al Lenhardt, President and CEO

As 2007 comes to a close, I’m pleased to welcome you to this special annual issue of Catalyst. It is a compendium of resources designed to help all those who work to “Take A Bite Out Of Crime®.”

As a crime prevention specialist, law enforcement officer, volunteer, neighborhood activist, social worker, teacher, or member of any of the other scores of professions who believe that preventing crime is the best way to improve our nation’s quality of life, you put yourself on the line for your fellow citizens, neighbors, students, and youth every day. I salute your efforts, your resourcefulness, and your commitment. I know that you work tirelessly to bring hope to those who are afflicted by crime and even to those who have committed the crimes that have so grievously affected others. Above all, I know that we are joined in our shared journey “to help people keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe from crime.”

Please use the information in this special issue of Catalyst to further your own missions, inform your important work, and help prevent crime in America.
