McGruff Out and About in the Community

McGruff was present at the Roxbury Township, New Jersey's National Night Out held at Horseshoe Lake. After parachuting in with several of Roxbury's finest, McGruff signed autographs and had pictures taken with children.

McGruff took a ride in the Hillsborough County (Tampa, FL) Sheriff's emergency response vehicle.  McGruff was a big hit in the annual Ybor City Night Parade, part of the Gasparilla activities in Tampa.

McGruff takes part in Boston's St. Patrick's Day parade in Boston's South End.

National Crime Prevention Council staff celebrate Crime Prevention Month at an event in Farragut Park in Washington, DC, featuring the 32 foot inflatable McGruff balloon.  Hundreds of individuals stopped by the park on their lunch hour and received crime prevention information and McGruff licensed products.

McGruff was on hand during "Kids Week" at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York, NY. He participated in this winter festival, filled with fun and educational activities, by handing out coloring books, children's fingerprint ID kits, and bags for parents. Over 3,000 people took part in safety day.

The National Crime Prevention Council, McGruff, and McGruff.org's Milstein Child Safety Center partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to promote child safety to guests of Dollywood Amusement Park in Pigeon Forge, TN.  McGruff appeared as part of the summer's Dollywood Kids Fest activities. McGruff and representatives from the city of Knoxville, TN, and the Pigeon Forge Police Department distributed brochures and other safety materials.

Members of the Children and Youth team at NCPC visited second and fifth graders in Arlington, VA, to get their feedback on a series of posters addressing the important issue of staying in school.  The children provided poster and slogan ideas.

Each year McGruff takes part in the Washington, DC, National Zoological Park's Guppy Gala. Last year more than 5,000 adults and children participated in the special fundraising event. Children had a chance to hop in a moonbounce, meet a magician, and hug our own number one crime dog. NCPC staff members were on hand to exhibit crime prevention materials and give away fun licensed products.
