The McGruff Safe Kids Total Identification System

The McGruff Safe Kids Total Identification System represents the best all-around prevention program that can be delivered to American families at an affordable price.

The goals of this program are to:

Provide parents with a fingerprint and identification card that contains their child's vital personal information that will provide authorities with a single most useful tool in the recovery of a missing child. This includes:

An 8” x 10” McGruff® Safe Kids Identification Card containing a color digital photo of the child, vital information such as date of birth, height, weight, etc. and ten high-speed, scanned, forensic-quality fingerprints.

Two laminated, wallet-sized identification cards with the child's photograph (head and shoulders shot), digital fingerprint, and vital information.

Provide educational safety materials to children and their families that will make them safer and better prepared to protect themselves.

Here's how the McGruff Safe Kids Total Identification System school program works:

• The school administrator grants approval to offer the program.

• Two weeks before the event the McGruff Parent Letter is sent home with all the children in the school. Parents are asked to return a completed personal information form manually or online at www.ezform.mcgruff-safe-kids.com along with payment for their child.

• The day before the event teachers place the McGruff Parent Reminder Sticker on students' book bags on the way home from school.

• The day of the event McGruff the Crime Dog makes an appearance at the school to generate excitement and to punctuate the child safety/crime prevention event being held.

• The McGruff Safe Kids Total Identification System Regional Director appears and begins meeting with the enrolled students to photograph and fingerprint each individual.

• In addition, a school may hold the McGruff the Crime Dog Crime Prevention Theater , which includes four VHS videotapes: McGruff's Stranger Danger , McGruff's Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety , McGruff's Personal Property , and McGruff's Bully Alert.

The identification package for each participating child will go home with the child either the same day or the next day. Each participating child receives a National Crime Prevention Council approved and endorsed crime prevention/safety package featuring McGruff the Crime Dog.
