NCPC Launches First Crime Prevention Blog
By Brandon Bryn, NCPC
The National Crime Prevention Council recently published the first blog that focuses entirely on crime prevention. The National Crime Prevention Council has been advocating the importance of prevention as akey to reducing crime for 26 years now; now we bring the message into the 21st century with Prevention Works.
The blog features the latest news and ideas in crime prevention, and offers an opportunity for discussion on a variety of topics. Each posting from NCPC staff will emphasize how to keep prevention at the forefront of the fight to make neighborhoods and communities safer from all types of crime. The postings will discuss how to handle issues ranging from violence in schools to cyber crime, as well as personal safety issues like home invasion.
“The most effective path to safer neighborhoods is to stop crime before it starts,” said NCPC CEO and President Al Lenhardt. “Fighting the tide of crime requires each of us to get involved in our communities, connect with local law enforcement, and connect with our neighbors. We want Prevention Works to be a place where people can come for the latest information about crime prevention. Whether the topic is violence, fraud, personal safety, or an emerging trend such as identity theft, we want people to be able to prevent crimes, rather than deal with them after the fact.”
Earlier this year, NCPC released its new, updated website, www.ncpc.org. The Prevention Works blog is the latest feature added to that website.
NCPC wants to hear from you on this blog. It invites you to comment on any post if you agree, have a different opinion, or have a question you’d like answered. All comments will be reviewed before they are posted, in order to avoid spam and profane comments, but NCPC is committed to posting your comments and responding as soon as possible.
