The Apex Police Community Outreach Division is proclaiming October as Apex Safety Month. Several community events are planned. The information to be covered is child safety, a vehicle display, and McGruff the Crime Dog. We will also have the seatbelt convincer on display for adults to try. This shows the public the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt. They will be attending two local churches to educate preschoolers on the use of 911. We have a 911 simulator for the kids to interact with. The simulator asks questions such as, what is your phone number? Address? Nature of your emergency? Division members will also go to one of our local elementary schools to talk about the role of police officers in the community, 911, and show a police vehicle.
