The City of Colonial Heights, VA, Police Department will partner with other city departments, community organizations, business and civic sponsors, and elected officials to establish a night of city-ide block parties and neighborhood gatherings. During Colonial Heights Celebrate Safe Communities Night, residents will have an opportunity to meet and greet their neighbors in a fun social setting. Police and city officials will visit each location to expand lines of communications between residents and their local government. Colonial Heights, with 17,800 residents, boasts in excess of 40 events throughout the city each year. The goal of the police department is to hold an event within walking distance of each resident. The events help to empower city residents to work together to keep crime out of their neighborhoods while focusing on quality-of-life issues.
