Due to the extreme heat and humidity in the month of August, Greenwood County, SC will hold their National Night Out events on Tuesday, October 6th. This will be an excellent collaborative effort with the Celebrate Safe Communities initiative.  Over 30 Greenwood County/City Neighborhoods will host a variety of Crime Prevention and Educational events in their communities.  These events will include approximately 4,000 Greenwood County residents.   It is a collaborative effort with as many as 10 law enforcement and public safety departments from throughout Greenwood County.   Local business “friend’ed” to become partners in the event; by assisting to help offset the cost.   

 

On Monday, October 12 - Healthy Greenwood Neighborhoods will offer a Crime Prevention and Education class to all Greenwood County Neighborhoods.  This will be led by the Greenwood Sheriff’s Department and City of Greenwood Police Department.  The goal of this training will be increase the knowledge of and participation in local Crime Prevention programs.

 

On Saturday, October 24th - Healthy Greenwood Neighborhoods, Inc.  will be coordinating the Make A Difference Day events.  Emphasis will be place on providing senior citizens and low-income residents with the tools to increase the safety of their homes and surrounding neighborhood.   Neighborhoods throughout Greenwood County will submit proposals for up to $500.00 to complete a neighborhood health and safety improvement project.   This project is being done with the collaboration of the Non-Profit Council of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.
