The Lee County Sheriff's Office has partnered with several community groups, including the City of Bonita Springs, Charleston Park, Pine Manor, and Page Park, to host Celebrate Safe Communities events between October 1 and October 6.
During these events there will be community picnics to increase community involvement and promote neighbors coming together for a common cause--community safety. Many communities are holding coloring and drawing contests for younger participants and providing a way that parents can have their children fingerprinted and DNA collected. There will be marches and parades against crime and the Pine Manor community will end its Celebrate Safe Communities event with a candlelight vigil honoring crime victims.
In addition to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the fire stations in these communities and Lee County Human Services will participate by assisting the communities in the planning and in educating community members and event attendees about safety and security.
