Slatebelt Alcohol Task Force Health and Safety Fair

The Slatebelt Alcohol Task Force along with the Plainfield Township Police Department will sponsor the second annual Health and Safety Fair on Thursday, October 1, 2009.  As in 2008, the fair will consist of various groups, police departments, speakers, and celebrities, who will spread the word about health and safety.  The Plainfield Township Police will offer digital kid's i.d.'s.  World Boxing Champion Larry Holmes will attend and sign autographs.  Along with the champ will be Ferrous the Lehigh Valley IronPigs mascot (Philadelphia Phillies Triple A Affiliate) and McGruff the Crime Dog.  The Pennsylvania  State Police Aviation Unit will be landing the State Police helicopter.  Local fire departments will be talking to people about fire safety.  Other groups present will be the Guardian Angles, Turning Point, Crime Victims Council, Wind Gap Middle School Bully Prevention group, and the Bushkill Township and Lehigh Valley International Airport K9 units.  The Lehigh University Police will also attend, and the Pen Argyl High School Jazz Band will perform.  There will be a dunking booth where kids can dunk their  favorite or not-so-favorite teacher.  Free hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks will keep the fair lively!
