Bob Northrop is a 39 year veteran of the Tampa Police Department. He completed 30 years as a full-time police officer before retiring with a perfect attendance record in 2003. Upon retiring as a Senior Corporal, Bob remained with the Tampa Police Department as a Police Reserve Officer and continues to serve his community with his crime prevention experience. Bob is especially proud of the fact that for the last 28 years he has had the extreme privilege of serving as the Departments Liaison to MacDill AFB where he assists Military personnel with all matters of Crime Prevention and security “off base”.
Among his many awards for his Crime Prevention activities, Bob is especially proud of his Crime Prevention Officer of The Year Award presented to him by John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted and the Florida Crime Prevention Association.
In 1993 Mr. Northrop attended the Florida Attorney General’s inaugural training class for the States newly enacted Convenience Business Security Act (CBSA). Within the year his aggressive work with the Convenience Business Security Act earned him the extreme privilege of being chosen as the A.G.’s Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute’s Lead Instructor for C.B.S.A. training. That position later earned him the privilege of testifying for OSHA before a Congressional Sub-Committee in Washington D.C. on the subject of violence in the late night business industry. Bob is a member of the Suncoast Crime Prevention Association, Florida Crime Prevention Association, National Crime Prevention Association, International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners and the American Society for Industrial Security.
Bob has an Associate’s Degree in Police Science and Administration and has accumulated extensive training in many fields of Crime Prevention (including CPTED training from the National Crime Prevention Training Institute), during his 30 years of Crime Prevention experience. He has earned the FCPP (Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner) Designation from the prestigious Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute, and the ICPS (International Crime Prevention Specialist) Designation from the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners.
