Americans ages 12 and older experienced over 17 million cases of household burglary, motor vehicle theft, and property theft in 2011 according to the Bureau of Justice Assistance Criminal Victimization, 2011 report.  The most effective method of preventing theft is eliminating the opportunity. Children and adults of all ages can learn to lock up and protect their homes and possessions.
